Join Faith in Place for Interfaith Power & Light’s annual premier week of worship and action focused on climate — Faith Climate Action Week 2021, April 16-25th!
The theme this year is Sacred Ground: Cultivating Connections Between our Food, our Faith, and the Climate. How we grow our food largely determines how we treat the world, and one another. Dig into a discussion with your congregation on the connection between our faith, our food practices, climate change, and environmental justice. Make it a focus of your Earth Day worship services and be part of the solution with the suggested actions in the organizer’s kit.

Join IPL for “Sacred Ground: A Message of Hope”, a conversation with the award-winning filmmaker of Kiss the Ground, Josh Tickell, and Veronica Kyle, the Statewide Outreach Director of IPL affiliate Faith in Place. Veronica has been instrumental in supporting several successful “congregational supported agriculture” farms in the Chicago area serving food insecure neighborhoods.

Unitarian Church of Evanston
The concert is hosted by the Unitarian Church of Evanston Green Team with proceeds benefitting The Talking Farm. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Please follow the event link to purchase tickets. More information and the Zoom link will be shared closer to the date.
Peter Mayer, celebrated singer and songwriter, will perform on Saturday, April 24 at 7 pm. Peter’s work is known throughout the Unitarian Universalists Congregations and one of his best known and beloved songs Blue Boat Home is included in the UU Hymnal.
Our congregation was honored to see Peter perform in our sanctuary last year and are very excited to welcome him back, this time on Zoom.
The Talking Farm is an initiative that helps people learn to farm and grow, harvest and eat their own food. It works closely with the students of Evanston Township High School, who work the Edible Acre, a garden across from the high school. Its harvest is used in the ETHS cafeteria and students learn about local climate, local farming, and developing a relationship with the land. Students from the Edible Acre will be participating in our April 22 Earth Day celebration!
Save the Date! Grand Prairie Friends will be hosting their annual plant sale in May. The catalogue is already available.
The online sale opens to the public starting at 8am on May 2nd and runs until May 14th. Orders can be picked up from May 17th-22nd. The event will close on May 22nd with an in-person boutique plant sale inside Lincoln Square Mall, 8am-Noon. (COVID Pending)
