Thanks to everyone who joined us on August 13 for our Monthly Call. We are grateful to Brooks Lamb for joining us to talk about his experience as a farmer and writer.
"You start to develop this sense of imagination of the land. Not imagination in the sense of picturing fantastical things like unicorns flying through the sky and dancing trees and all those sorts of things. But imagination in the sense of knowing a place so well and so closely that you could be a thousand miles away, shut your eyes, and put yourself there and all of the richness of detail that makes that place unique from anywhere else on Earth. Having a sense of imagination that's that strong starts to lead to this virtue of affection. Not some wistful or sentimental or sappy or nostalgic love. But a love that's forceful and enduring that motivates action. An affection like that leads to what I think is the ultimate virtue of fidelity."
