OVERVIEW

We envision a just and sustainable future by transitioning to clean energy, fostering healthy communities, and empowering local leadership. Communities most harmed by the fossil fuel economy should have equitable access to training and jobs in the emerging green economy.

  • Sustainable Energy: We support a rapid, managed transition to renewable energy, ensuring access to affordable, energy-efficient buildings, a resilient, carbon-free power grid, and clean, accessible transportation.

  • Healthy Communities: Thriving communities need clean air, clean water, green spaces, and access to healthy food. We advocate for sustainable agriculture, equitable tree canopies, pollution-free neighborhoods, and safe active transportation options.

  • People-Powered Future: To empower communities to lead the transition to sustainability, we champion strong voting rights, civic engagement, and equitable access to the emerging green economy. Returning residents and frontline communities should directly benefit from workforce training, apprenticeships, and good jobs in renewable energy, conservation, and sustainable industries.

Sustainable Energy

To mitigate and adapt to the long-term harm of the climate crisis, we must rapidly transition away from fossil fuels and toward a clean, resilient, and just energy system. This transition must prioritize affordability, sustainability, and workforce development, particularly for those communities most harmed by the extractive fossil fuel economy.

  • Energy-efficient buildings, equipped with high-efficiency heating, cooling, and cooking technologies that reduce energy use and lower utility bills.

  • Affordable, clean energy options for homes, Houses of Worship, and businesses, including solar panels, geothermal systems, and community solar programs.

Affordable and Clean Buildings

Our energy grid must be reliable, affordable, and powered entirely by renewable energy. We support:

  • A fully carbon-free and resilient power system with renewable generation (solar, wind, geothermal) to withstand climate impacts.

  • A just transition for fossil fuel-reliant communities, ensuring workers have access to equal or greater opportunities in the clean energy economy through job training, apprenticeships, and career pathways in renewable energy infrastructure.

Clean and Resilient Grid

Access to clean, efficient, and affordable transportation is essential for economic mobility and environmental justice. We support:

  • Expansion of public transit systems that reduce reliance on fossil fuels while remaining accessible and affordable for all.

  • Investment in electric vehicle infrastructure, including charging stations in historically underserved communities.

Healthy Communities

Thriving, healthy communities require a safe, clean environment and access to essential resources. Further, communities are safest when the people in those communities are connected to the land and to each other. To build resilience against climate change and environmental injustice, we support:

Access to clean, green spaces is a fundamental right that improves public health and mitigates climate impacts. We support:

  • Community green spaces free from pollutants, designed to improve air quality and community well-being.

  • An equitable tree canopy to cool the air, reduce flooding, and lower energy costs in historically underserved neighborhoods.

Natural Spaces

Clean air, water, and food are essential to public health and environmental justice. We support:

  • Protections against air and water pollution to ensure that all communities, especially those historically burdened by industrial pollution, have clean air and water.

  • Expansion of sustainable agriculture and fresh food access programs to ensure that all people can access and afford healthy, local food.

  • Investments in pedestrian- and bike-friendly communities, where active transportation is a safe and viable option.

People-Powered Future

Building a just and sustainable future requires investing in people and ensuring that communities have the power to shape environmental policy, access economic opportunities, and lead the transition to a green economy. We support:

A strong democracy ensures that all people have a voice in shaping a clean and just future. We support:

  • Robust voting rights protections to prevent disenfranchisement and ensure communities can elect leaders who represent their environmental and economic interests.

  • Transparency and civic engagement initiatives that inform and engage voters on climate and economic policies, equipping them to hold decision-makers accountable.

Healthy Democracy

Communities must be equipped with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to drive local climate solutions. We support:

  • Community-driven decision-making in environmental policies, land use, and sustainability initiatives to ensure those most affected by climate change are leading solutions.

  • Investment in environmental education and leadership programs to empower young people, workers, and historically marginalized communities to become climate leaders.

Eco-Leadership

The transition to a green economy should prioritize the communities most harmed by pollution, climate change, and economic disinvestment. We support:

  • Equitable workforce development programs that provide training in renewable energy, green construction, clean transportation, and sustainable manufacturing.

  • Apprenticeships and fair wages to ensure clean energy careers offer economic stability and long-term security.

  • Targeted job creation for returning residents and frontline communities, ensuring access to careers in the emerging green economy.
